Man scares off robber with his mobile phone

A MAN threw his mobile phone at the face of a mugger who tried to steal his bag.

The 25-year-old victim got off the train at Littlehampton railway station on Monday, December 5, at 7.30pm and walked into Terminus Road and then onto Albert Road.

As he turned into an alleyway which leads into Franciscan Way, he felt something pulling on the strap of his bag, which caused him to fall backwards onto the pavement.

He saw a white man with short dark, in his 20s, about 5ft 8in and wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.

The man reached for the bag strap again but the victim threw his mobile phone at him which hit his face.

The would-be robber than ran off empty handed towards Howard Road.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the victim or the suspect to come forward.
