Man suffers cardiac arrest and 'serious head injuries' following Chichester brawl

A man was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries and suffering a cardiac arrest following a fight in the city last week.

Witnesses reported seeing two men fighting in St Martin’s Square after 5pm on Tuesday (August 9).

Police were called to the area following reports of a man suffering a cardiac arrest at about 5.15pm.

Enquiries at the scene revealed that a fight had taken place between the man and another man, police confirmed.

Officers arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He has since been released on conditional bail whilst enquiries continue.

The injured man suffered serious head injuries and was taken to St. Richards Hospital.
