On Wednesday morning (August 19), police on patrol in Pulborough were flagged down by a woman who reported being the victim of a domestic incident, a Sussex Police spokesman said.
He added: “Enquiries led to the arrest of a 30-year-old local man later that evening, on suspicion of harassment without violence and possession of a firearm without a certificate. He remains in police custody at this time.”
The woman has since been taken to a place of safety, police said.
