No arrests made following van fire at Eastbourne Tyre Company
Sussex Police has confirmed their investigation into a van fire at Eastbourne Tyre Company in September has concluded with no arrests made, pending any new evidence coming to light.
Two fire engines were called to reports of a van fire in Fort Road on Wednesday, September 9, and crews from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) extinguished the blaze by 11:24pm.
Sussex Police said on Thursday, September 10 that the fire was “being treated as suspicious”, while ESFRS said it was “believed to have been started deliberately” at the time.
But the police have since confirmed that their investigation has concluded “pending any new evidence or lines of enquiry coming to light”.

Eastbourne Tyre Company only acquired the affected mobile-tyre-fitting van in July of this year.
Depot Manager Finlay Hind spoke to The Herald following the incident, describing it as “quite upsetting” and a “miracle” that the fire didn’t spread from the van.
