Nuisance neighbours in Angmering punished by council

ANTI-SOCIAL neighbours in Angmering have had music equipment seized by Arun District Council.

Stereos and speakers have been taken from a house in the village following repeated incidents of noise nuisance.

Arun District Council’s environmental health team had issued a noise abatement notice to the family, who live in Mill Road Avenue, in June – but this, and subsequent warnings, were ignored.

Neighbours complained loud music was played during the middle of the night. This was also witnessed by environmental health officers during an inspection of the site.

It was considered firm action was required to restore peace and quiet to the neighbourhood.

Council officers entered the property on Tuesday, August 2, with support from Sussex Police, after obtaining a warrant from Worthing Magistrates’ Court.

A number of music players and speakers that had been used to create unreasonable noise were removed.

Councillor Paul Dendle, Arun’s cabinet member for environmental services with responsibility for environmental health, warned this action was unacceptable.

He said: “It is important people have due regard for their neighbours – particularly when it comes to noise of this type. This joint action demonstrates we work closely with our partners to deal swiftly and effectively with people who cause such anti-social behaviour.”
