Police appeal after Arundel assault

POLICE are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in an Arundel bar on Saturday night (May 28).

Officers went to Jazzmin’s Wine Bar in High Street at around 10.50pm after an on-duty PCSO reported that there had been an assault.

A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital suffering from a serious eye injury following an assault in the bar.

The victim said he had just left the toilet area and was going outside via the conservatory to have a cigarette when he was assaulted by a man.

A 24-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and has been bailed until July 5 pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Mark Gowling, of West Sussex CID, said: “This was a nasty assault and it is possible that the victim may lose sight in one of his eyes.

“I would ask that anyone who witnessed the assault, or who has information which may assist police, gets in contact.”
