Renewed appeal over East Grinstead incident outside takeaway

Police are seeking the occupants of two cars in a renewed appeal for witnesses after a man was found with a serious head injury in a car park in East Grinstead on Wednesday 2 July.

A police statement says that the 70-year-old East Grinstead man had been to the Wing Wah Chinese to buy a takeaway in London Road and was walking across the car park near the fire station.

He was found by members of the public at 7pm and an ambulance was called and he was taken to St George’s Hospital in Tooting, London, where he is in a critical condition.

The man is described as white, and of large build.

Detective Sergeant Dan Gower said: “We are still trying to find out what happened to the man and if anyone saw him prior to being discovered. We would like to hear from anyone who saw him in the car park before 6.30pm, and in particular the drivers of two cars, described as a red Fiat and a silver Mazda 3. which were in the car park at around that time. They may have seen the man and we would be grateful if they could contact us. “
