Two arrested over burglary after hiding in bushes

MEN from Shoreham and Littlehampton have been arrested in connection with a burglary in Pulborough.

The 40-year-old Shoreham man and 27-year-old Littlehampton man were found hiding in a hedge following the break-in, at the Co-op in Ashington, in the early hours of yesterday (Monday, April 9), during which a number if batteries were stolen.

A Sussex Police: “Police attended the scene of the burglary at around 4.10am following reports of suspicious activity from members of the public living nearby. When officers arrived they discovered that the front window of the store had been smashed.

“An area search was launched and a nearby traffic unit located a suspect vehicle parked in a driveway in Ashington, a holdall containing batteries was spotted lying in the front garden and officers noticed damage to a nearby fence.

“A search of neighbouring gardens revealed the two suspects hiding in a thick hedge to the rear of one of the properties.”

The two were arrested on suspicion of burglary.
