UPDATE: Missing Sompting woman has been found

A SOMPTING woman with dementia who went missing yesterday (Wednesday, September 28) has been found safe and well.

Joan Redman, 76, has senile dementia and both her family and the police were very concerned after she disappeared from her home in Upper Boundstone Lane sometime yesterday.

Today (Thursday, September 29) police announced Joan had been found more than 10 miles away from her home, in Florence Road, Brighton.

Police sergeant Anna Gent said: “Sussex Police would like to thank all those involved in searching for Joan Redman.

“She was found this morning at around 7.20am in Florence Road, Brighton where a member of the public went outside to talk to her as she appeared to be confused.

“The member of the public contacted the police who attended and found Joan.

“Joan was taken a cup of tea whilst waiting for the police to arrive.

“Joan has been reunited with her family and does not appear to have come to any harm whilst missing.”
