Witness appeal folloiwng Lancing theft

Witnesses are being sought following a burglary at the home of a 67-year-old woman in Lancing in the early hours.

A small wicker basket containing cash left on a windowsill was stolen from a flat in Shadwells Road, at 2.15am on Sunday (August 5).

A man was arrested nearby on suspicion of burglary. The 35-year-old from Lancing has been questioned and released on bail until September 2.

Detective Constable Paul Tonks said: “This was an opportunistic act at a time when people would still have been out and about, so we’re looking for anyone who witnessed anything suspicious to come forward.”
