Woman sprayed with substance in Worthing assault, according to police

A spokesperson from Sussex Police said, “The first incident took place at around 5pm on Wednesday, July 14 in Cortis Avenue, when two men approached the 40-year-old victim, one carrying a metal bar making threats to harm her. They then made off in a large pickup truck.”
According to police, the second incident took place on Monday, July 19 at 4.30pm when a man approached a vehicle parked in The Boulevard, near Durrington Railway Station.

Hide AdThe spokesperson said, “The suspect used a bottle to spray a substance over the woman inside. She suffered minor injuries.
“A man, aged 40, has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intent in connection to the incident and has been released on bail until August 18 pending further enquiries.
“A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released on bail until August 17.“
The suspects and the victim are all known to each other, according to police.

Hide AdCrime investigator Perry Humphreys said, “We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the two incidents or anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage of them to make contact with us.”
