Worthing man charged with attempted murder after woman seriously injured in attack

A Worthing man has been charged with attempted murder after seriously injuring a woman in an attack.

According to Sussex Police, 59-year-old Gary Mallon assaulted a woman at a property in Littlehampton Road, Worthing, at 11.45pm on Sunday (January 31).

His victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment, police said.

Mallon, of Littlehampton Road, was subsequently charged with attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He appeared at Worthing Magistrates’ Court yesterday (February 2), where he was detained under the Mental Health Act.

He is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on March 2.
