Worthing pair arrested over alleged vehicle repair scam targeting vulnerable victims
Police have arrested two people in connection with an alleged vehicle repair scam, in the Worthing area.
Officers say ‘multiple reports’ were received that ‘elderly and vulnerable’ residents were being approached by a man and a woman, who falsely ‘claim their vehicle has been hit’.
“They take the victims’ details and provide a false quote for repairs, insisting they pay cash instead of submitting an insurance claim,” a Sussex Police statement read.
"Police have been made aware of this issue and have since arrested a 38-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man from Findon on suspicion of fraud by false representation. They have been bailed pending further enquiries.

“In the meantime, we’re urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to us, or come forward if you have been a victim of the same scam.”
You can report information online, or by calling 101, quoting crime reference 47260120921.
