David clocks up blood donation No 75

A BEXHILL blood donor was among more than 100 honoured at an awards dinner in London.

Plucky David Hatherell received a crystal plate marking his 75 donations.

The National Blood Service says: "Only three per cent of our donors reach this milestone so it really is a remarkable achievement."

David received his award from Carol Decker, former front woman from 80s band T'Pau.

Blood donors, their families and National Blood Service (NBS) staff gathered for the awards ceremony at the New Connaught Rooms, Covent Garden.

They were there to honour 113 lifesavers from London and the South East who, like David, have donated blood on at least 75 occasions.
