Denzil gets to the church on time

A SPECIAL appearance of a four-legged friend at a Palm Sunday procession was made possible after local tree surgeons stepped in to provide transportation following an appeal in the Observer.

It had been feared that Denzil the donkey might not be able to make the celebratory event, organised by St Barnabas church, because of lack of transport to and from the venue.

Speaking on behalf of the church Father Roger Crosthwaite said: “St Barnabas church would like to give a very, very big thank you indeed to the Observer for publishing our plight about needing transport for Denzil the donkey, and to Bexhill Tree Surgeons.

“Not only did they loan us Denzil for our procession, but also stepped into the breach and provided the transport to get him to the church on time!

“He was absolutely fantastic, and everyone at the church and all the passers-by were thrilled to see him.”
