A HERALD reader from Durrington has answered the plea for help featured in our pages recently from George Walker asking for readers' memories of a mechanical elephant in Denton Gardens.
"JUST read the letter from George Walker in the Herald re the mechanical elephant. I remember it well!
I have enclosed a couple of photos (I am one of the children) taking a ride on the elephant with a family friend.
I remember I felt rather worried as it seemed quite high up at the time and rolled from side to side.
It probably was the early 50s as I was about four years old.
