Dinosaur and fossil talk this weekend

A talk on where to find fossils and dinosaur footprints in local rocks will be explained in an illustrated talk to be held at the Shipwreck Museum, Rock-a-Nore, Hastings this Sunday (May 10) at 2.30pm.

The talk, to be given by Ken Brooks, will include images on a large screen showing various fossil specimens, including reconstructions of sharks, crocodiles and dinosaurs.

There will also be the opportunity to handle and examine dinosaur bones. These will include a rock containing very rare vertebrae from a pterosaur (flying reptile) found on the beach.

Ken says it’s amazing what can be found in the local area. He said: “Although the last dinosaurs died out around 65 million years ago, their remains and evidence of their environments can still be found in the Hastings area - if you know where to look!”

Ken said anyone who has a rock or fossil that they would like to have identified, to please take it along to the talk. “There is always the possibility that you might have discovered a new species - which could be named after you!”
Places are limited and pre-booking is required. Entry costs £3 for adults, £2 children.
