BBC Radio 2 Folk Show presenter, Mark Radcliffe, is the latest to praise the centre and its contribution to the folk-music scene.

Having opened in 2007, the centre survived a funding crisis in 2011 and has since gone from strength to strength, helped by a band of almost 100 volunteers.

Ropetackle spokesman Mark Phillips said: “We’ve always had a strong folk presence in our events programme, so when the UK’s foremost folk champion and host of BBC Radio 2’s popular Folk Show, Mark Radcliffe, announced to the nation that Ropetackle was ‘a venue that people are really getting to love and a great booking policy there’ we take this as a huge compliment.

“In keeping then, we’ve got a brilliant line-up of folk coming up this summer.”

Highlights will include Gaelic singer-songwriter and co-presenter of the 2014 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Julie Fowlis on May 27, Québecois four-piece Le Vent Du Nord on June 13, CoCo and The Butterfields on July 4, award-winning Canadian outfit Gordie MacKeeman and His Rhythm Boys on July 9, English guitarist Martin Simpson and American guitar and banjo player Dom Flemons on July 25 and Swedish folk group Väsen on August 28.
