Dog club prepares tocelebrate 40 years

Forty years of training dogs and their owners is the proud claim of Bognor Regis and District Dog Training Club as it hosts its annual public event.

The club will celebrate the anniversary at its companion dog show on June 24 at the Jubilee Community Centre in North Bersted.

Many of the judges have been selected from past members '“ several of them active in the club's early days '“ in recognition of the celebration.

Club spokesman Phil Lewis said: 'There is an increase in interest in this challenging by friendly event.

'The course is designed to be true to everyday life, with a dog walking along a busy street and through a car park, using a pedestrian crossing and with the dog showing obedience in a park full of enticing doggy smells.

'The outdoor exercises deservedly attracted an admiring audience.'
