Don’t lose out on your chance to vote in Arun

It's less than a month until residents hit the polls

RESIDENTS living in the Arun district will soon be receiving their polling cards for the district and parish elections.

Elections for all 24 wards of Arun District Council and the 25 town and parish wards in the district will be held on May 7 – the same day of the General Election.

Polling cards will be delivered to the first residents today (April 1) and will continue being posted right up until April 10.

There is still time to register to vote. To be able to vote in this year’s election residents need to ensure their registration application is received by Arun District Council’s electoral registration officer, Nigel Lynn by April 20 at the latest.

All those who don’t register before this deadline will not be able to vote.

Mr Lynn said: “With the introduction of individual electoral registration during the last year, it is now the public’s personal responsibility to ensure they have registered to vote.

“Checking if they are registered and taking steps to register if they aren’t, means the difference between being able to vote or not.”

Residents can either follow the links there to register online, or to request a registration form.

Voters can choose to place their vote either at a polling station, or by a postal or proxy vote.

A spokeswoman for Arun added: “You can still apply to vote by post or to change your existing postal or proxy voting arrangement as long as your application is received by 5pm on April 21.”

Polling stations will be open between 7am and 10pm on May 7.
