Drink driver holed up at Camber Sands car park

A SHARP-EYED parking attendant at Camber Sands led to a drink driver being banned.

Londoner Tomas Savicus was fined £833 and banned for 18 months when he pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and other road traffic offences at Camberwell Magistrates Court on January 31.

Rye police sergeant Warren Downs said: “Back on August 9 a suspected drink driver was reported by a member of the public driving near to Rye on the A259.

“Shortly after this a council employee reported a suspected drink driver entering the western car park in Camber.

“Rye officer PCSO Dan Bevan attended, and found the vehicle parked up with the driver and passenegr in possesion of alcohol. PCSO Bevan called for road policing units to attend and the driver was arrested.”
