Driver, 18, killed in A259 crash at Wick

A teenage driver died at the scene of a road crash on the outskirts of Littlehampton last night (Monday, September 9).

The 18-year-old man died following a single vehicle collision on the A259 at Wick, between the Morrisons and Tesco roundabouts.

The driver, from the Littlehampton area, was travelling eastbound in a Ford Focus whicn left the road and collided with a lamppost at 9.33pm.

A passenger in the car, a 19-year-old local woman, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

A police spokesperson said: “This was a terrible tragedy in which a young man lost his life. We are appealing to anyone who saw what happened to call police on 101, quoting Operation Monitor, or email [email protected].”
