Drugs factory - latest

POLICE are awaiting the results of tests on material taken by the force forensic teams after a cannabis factory was discovered in Old Town last week.

Officers who had received a call from a worried landlady, found plants being grown under a hydroponic system in six first and second floor rooms of a maisonette in De La Warr Road last Wednesday.

That evening they arrested a 28 year-old Vietnamese who had made off in a car after approaching the house at about 9.30pm.

This week, DC Ben Ridgway of Rother CID said the man had been bailed pending the result of the forensic tests.

He said it would take a while to assess the street value of 602 plants recovered from the property.
