Durrington beard fire duo sentencing delay

SWINE flu has delayed the sentencing of two men found guilty of setting fire to a man's beard while he slept on a train.

Aedan Palmer, 19, and Dean Hardy, 20, were to be sentenced at Chichester Crown Court on today (Tuesday, December 8) but they will now appear at the same court on Wednesday, December 16, because Palmer has swine flu.

Palmer, of Tower Road, Lancing, pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm on Luke Kennedy, 22, while co-defendant Hardy, of Grace Road, Crawley, was found guilty of the same offence on November 5 after a trial at Chichester Crown Court.

The pair set Mr Kennedy's beard on fire as the train approached Durrington railway station on December 7 last year.
