Dwellings approved

An estate of 29 dwellings in Felpham has been given approval in principle by councillors.

They agreed to the scheme for 19 three bedroom and ten two bedroom houses on the site of Ivy Cottage Nursery in Flansham Lane.

The decision was made by Arun District Council's development control committee despite seven letters of objection from six households.

They were concerned about congested roads, highway safety and the effect of the development on the presence of wildlife.

But council interim head of development control Zachery Ellwood told the committee the site of just over threequarters of a hectare had enough room for 29 houses, which would be in keeping with the character of the area.
