East Preston man charged after 22 stun guns are found

AN East Preston man is to appear in court charged with illegally importing taser '˜stun guns' disguised as torches.

Aaron Davies, 29, of Sea Road, is due to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court at 1.15pm on Tuesday, February 11, charged with importing prohibited weapons – 22 stun guns disguised as torches – into the country with intent to evade a prohibition.

Sussex Police found 15 of the stun guns, prohibited firearms disguised as torches, on May 1 last year.

The prosecution, authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service, follows an investigation by the Sussex Police Serious Organised Crime Unit in which Davies’ home address and his work place, a business unit at the Rudford Industrial Estate in Ford, were searched by officers on May 1 last year.

An additional seven stun guns were found in a parcel seized by Border Force officers on their arrival in the country in April, 2013.

Police said the devices are not the same as those used by police forces in the UK.

They are more powerful and have no legitimate use in this country.
