Emergency services were called to the A259 Chichester Road in Bersted on Thursday, October 22 at about 8.45pm, following a report that ‘a cyclist had been involved in a collision with a van’.
A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “The cyclist sustained serious injuries in the collision and was airlifted to hospital, where they remain at this time.
"If you witnessed what happened, or have dash cam footage that could assist with further police enquiries, we ask you to make a report online, or by calling 101 quoting Op Location.”
The road was closed in both directions, between Groves Farm Cottages and Elbridge Avenue, while emergency services worked.
It has now reopened.
South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) has been approached for comment.
