‘My family needs me’ – Crowborough food truck owner heads to Nepal after four members of his family go missing in the devastating floods

The owner of a popular food truck has revealed four members of his family have gone missing in the devastating floods in Nepal.

Pramod Poudel, also known as Pedro, who runs the Momo Nepalese food outlet out of Crowborough, revealed his wife, mother, uncle and brother are all missing following this week’s tragedy.

He has now cancelled all bookings for the next 14 days to travel to Nepal and help with the search.

He said: “It is with a very heavy heart that I share that four members of my family have gone missing following the devastating flash floods in Nepal — including my beloved mother, my wife, my brother, and my uncle.

“At this incredibly difficult time, my family needs me, and I will be travelling to Nepal tomorrow to be with them and help in any way I can.

“Because of this, we will unfortunately have to cancel all our bookings for the next 14 days. I sincerely apologise to everyone who has booked us and for any inconvenience this may cause.

“I may not be able to contact everyone personally before travelling, so please accept my heartfelt apology and understanding during this extremely difficult time.

Thank you for your patience, kindness and support. Please keep my family and everyone affected by the floods in Nepal in your thoughts and prayers.”

The news was greeted with shock and sympathy from his regulars.

Eliza Kelso said: “So sorry to read this and lots of love to you and your family. We all desperately hope for a good outcome. This whole situation is heartbreaking and the footage is shocking. Please know that the community is behind you at this awfully hard time.

Sue Taylor added: “I'm so sorry to read this. Can't begin to imagine what you must be going through. Do hope they are found safe. Thinking of you and all of your family.”

More than 500 people are known to have died in the devastating flash floods that hit the country this week.
