Police cars, fire engines and ambulance vehicles responded, after reports of a road traffic collision, on High Street.
The incident happened around 1.30pm, on Saturday (March 21).
A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews attended to support with making the scene safe and traffic management.”
Photos from the scene showed a red car had mounted the pavement, and collided directly into the front of a barbershop.
The car’s front-right side was badly damaged and the shop’s large front window was shattered, with cracks spreading across the glass.
Red-and-white tape reading ‘FIRE DO NOT CROSS’ was placed across the scene.
There was debris on the ground and the area brought under control while the situation was being handled.
Sussex Police confirmed that officers assisted the emergency response but the force is ‘not appealing for any further information at this time’.
