Drone images sent to this newspaper showed two people climbing over the fencing at the cliff in Saltdean on Thursday afternoon with one of them holding a guitar.
A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “Police responded to a report at 5.22pm on 7 May that two men had climbed over the barrier and near the cliff edge at Saltdean.
“On police arrival the two men, who were film makers, were spoken to as they headed into Saltdean.”
East Sussex County Council and the South Downs National Park Authority has previously issued warnings to people about cliff dangers as warm weather is expected to bring more people to the area.
A warning at www.southdowns.gov.uk urges people to stay safe around the coastline’s cliffs.
It said: “Every year, thousands of tonnes of chalk falls from the cliffs which stretch from the edge of Eastbourne, past Beachy Head, the Seven Sisters and Seaford Head. Despite warning signs, people often stand near the edge of the fragile cliffs to take a look at the beach below or take a selfie or walk along the beach, or even have picnics, close to the base of the cliffs.”
