The new home would replace an existing garage.
Councillor for Pulborough and Coldwaltham Paul Clarke said he was concerned that parking spaces would be lost by replacing the use of the garage.
He said: “By my maths, two spaces would be lost if you remove the garage.
“I can’t see how these spaces have been replaced and there will be more cars on the road as more people will be living in the property.”

Miss Sutherland also submitted a second application to retain a self-contained flat in the lower ground floor of the same property.
Councillor for Henfield Mike Morgan said he feared granting permission for the flat could set a precedent for other home owners.
He said: “There are four other properties along this road which could be converted similarly.”
