Farm Diary with Gwyn Jones

Well, the rain did not amount to much, but I am reliably told there is more on the way. We have been irrigating some grass with dirty water from our lagoon, and coupled with the anticipated rainfall, it should boost things a bit.

We are desperately short of grass; with sileage making two weeks late and the delayed regrowth due to the grass being topo mature has put us in a tight spot. In order to put this right in a short space of time, rather than chase our tail all summer, we have yarded the spring calvers by day.
