Adur Voluntary Action has launched its new film portrait of the area. Entitled 'Adur in Action: a Portrait of Voluntary and Community Life', the 15-minute film can be viewed on the charity's website www.adurva.org

The film shows community life in action, including interviews with volunteers. It profiles the diverse benefits for individuals, and the wider community, of getting involved, and is paired with an updated directory of groups, accessed from the same web site. The organisation is inviting groups to contact it for a screening at their own meetings, supported by a short talk about voluntary and community life in our area, and the benefits of co-operation.

Adrian Barritt, chief officer, said: The film is a pioneering initiative. It is an outstanding achievement by the three small local organisations, and I have seen nothing like it elsewhere in the country.

“The film is produced to a very high professional standard, engages viewers’ attention and communicates its message in a clear, interesting way.

Jon Potter and Jon Rist, the filmmakers, said: “It has been a great experience meeting so many passionate people, and while we are promoting today’s community life and volunteering, we have also created a permanent record of Adur in 2016.

“We hope people enjoy the film, and that it encourages more involvement in our diverse communities.

“Adur is so much more than the filling in a sandwich between Brighton and Worthing”.
