Gwyn Jones'Farm Diary

I met Lord Bach (Agriculture Minister) last week to discuss the dairy industry, and how we tackle some of the problems in the dairy sector.

I was able to demonstrate how nonsensical the OFT's position is, because the importation of organic liquid milk to satisfy demand, had started last week. If there was a shortage of conventional milk, or if the price was right (that is if we were paid as much or more than our European counterparts), liquid milk would come in. The Minister agreed.

It was a constructive meeting, and I do feel that we have a Minister who is keen to make his mark, and help us sort out our problems in the dairy industry. I left with an air of optimism.
