Mrs Down's Diary

Given how expensive a vet's call out is, John's advice is frequently requested by friends and neighbours with problems with their stock.

John will always advise that a vet be called in if he considers it necessary to prevent suffering or if he even vaguely thought that anything was notifiable.

What people normally want him to do is to sort out foot rot on their sheep, problems with maggots if a sheep is flyblown, help with delivery if a calf needs extra pull, but most often it is problems with feeding.
