Online Greenpeace event for Eastbourne
A Green Recovery: The Future of Transport in Eastbourne will take place online this Wednesday (October 14) at 7pm.
Greenpeace says transport accounts for around one third of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions, with the vast majority coming from road transport such as cars, vans and HGVs.

Hide AdFor the UK to achieve its 2050 net zero target, Greenpeace says a transport revolution is needed - replacing petrol, diesel and hybrid cars and vans with electric vehicles accompanied by a massive investment in walking, cycling and public transport.
As a busy seaside resort, Greenpeace says Eastbourne has always had a high influx of traffic. Greenpeace argues better rail links and more provision for cycles are needed, especially a cycle path along the seafront.
It says East Sussex County Council needs to spend the funding provided by the government for some of these changes to occur.
A spokesperson said, “Covid-19 has had a major impact on the way we get about. Some key upcoming decisions by the government will have long-lasting effects on the future of transport in Eastbourne.
