The best of summer wine may yet bring one grand surprise. It has happened before in Sussex, though I have to admit October is a little late, and the rainy weather not conducive. Still it is a nice surprise to think about it as a possibility for next spring.

I refer to the Camberwell Beauty, perhaps the most fabulous of all butterflies, seen in Britain, and one which generally turns up last of all in the late summer and early autumn.
