Exchange trips boost the Bognor Regis economy

A foreign student-hosting company is beating the economic slump and celebrating success in Bognor Regis.

Sunny Bognor Student Stays has recently welcomed its 10,000th young visitor to the town.

The milestone was reached among the students from St Michel College in Parique le Polin near Le Mans.

Organiser Carmen Fernandez said: “It’s very exciting and a boost to the local economy as the trips bring much-needed business and revenue into the town.”

Visiting teacher Daniele Maraquin appealed to her Bognor counterparts to encourage their students to communicate with her French pupils.

“It would be wonderful for French and English pupils if they could practise their languages together,” she said.

“We have very much enjoyed our trip to Bognor and the wonderfully welcoming host families have created amazing memories for our students.

“In the future, we would like to create a permanent link with the town, perhaps school to school.”
