Returning for another year, the covered ice rink, sponsored by Worthing Pier’s Southern Pavilion, will be bigger and open longer than ever, with the grand opening tomorrow(Friday).

To mark the occasion, we are offering readers the chance to win a share of 50 tickets, to be enjoyed on three sessions in the run-up to Christmas Day.

We have 15 pairs of tickets and five family tickets (two adults, two children) to be shared between the 10am sessions on December 22, 23 and 24.

As an additional treat, we are giving away two tickets to see musician James Maddock perform at the Southern Pavilion on Monday, at 8pm.

Readers should send their name and contact telephone number to [email protected] or write to the address at the end of this article to enter.

Phil Duckett, co-owner of the Southern Pavilion, said: “It is bigger than ever this year. It’s all under cover in a gigantic marquee, so whatever the weather, you can skate with a smile.

The rink has been taking shape in recent weeks, with the marquee installed in Steyne Gardens and the ice being chilled ahead of the opening.

For the first time, the rink will be joined by a traditional Christmas market, with stalls filling up quickly for the weekend attraction.

“It’s going to be great for the town as time goes on,” Mr Duckett said.

“Steyne Gardens will be the gateway into the town, with all the huts and lights making people stop and look.

The 45 minute sessions will take place every hour, until 9pm, with the attraction open every day apart from Christmas Day.
