Yasser Alromisse fired a gun at Mary Shipstone before he apparently fatally turned the weapon on himself.

Police are not treating his death as suspicious.

Mary, a pupil at Beckley Primary School, was rushed to Kings College Hospital in London following the shooting at a property in Spring Hill.

Mary, who suffered serious head injuries in the incident, lost her fight for life on Friday afternoon.

Alromisse, who is believed to be a former employee at Uttlesford District Council, is thought to have lived in Broomfield Avenue, Worthing.

Michael Cloake, who lived near to Alromisse, said: “There is a permanent police presence.

“There were three cars last night and one on site all the time.

“We didn’t know the man but I think he lived a few doors down.

“He kept himself to himself.

“It’s a very quiet area and a friendly neighbourhood.

“It is a shocking and sad tale.”
