Parish Council: With a relatively short agenda the April meeting was concluded in record time. The year end financial report showed the council to be in good shape, even after allowing for the expected payment of £75,000 towards cliff preservation works near Cliff Way. On a sad note John Edmunds, our clerk for the last four years, has announced his retirement in June. We shall all miss John’s efficient and friendly presence and wish him the very best for the future.
Parish Assembly: A reminder that the Fairlight Parish Assembly takes place in a week’s time on Friday 13 May at 6.30pm in the Village Hall. All electors (ie just about all residents) are invited to attend and speak about issues which concern them. There will be a talk about the landowner’s ideas for a nature reserve opposite the Post Office (“Stonelynk Valley”) - something which is proving to be controversial. There will also be a presentation by the Rother Rural Trust and this year’s winner of the John Lutman Award for Community Service will be announced. Light refreshments will be available. This is a meeting of you the electors, not of the Parish Council, but your councillors will be present to answer questions.
