Falling debris from flats closes road

A busy road has been partly closed due to falling debris caused by high winds.

Gusts have caused tiles and parts of the roof from a block of flats opposite Seaford Railway Station to fall into the A259 road below.

Worried members of the public called police after spotting debris falling from the three-storey Claremont Quay building.

Police cordoned off the road at around 2pm and traffic is still being diverted through Claremont Road.

A police spokesman said: 'We are waiting for a building inspector to come and look at the rood.

'The building is three storeys high, there are no plans to re-open the road at the moment.'
