MARATHONS: The spring like weather was so good for all those active people over the weekend. Our neighbour, Ricky, took part in the Lewes Marathon on Sunday, an extremely tough course, but still came in fifth. Well done Ricky. Another marathon was run at the weekend, but at the time of this column going to press we do not know how our running rev got on in Barcelona. The Rev Dr Colin Lawlor was running to raise money for Children's Cancer and anyone who would like to sponsor him, I am sure it is not too late to sign up.

CONCERT: Brighton Community Choir Concert tomorrow, Saturday, in St Laurence Church at 5.30pm will be a lively and popular music event with the promise of some audience participation. It should be good.

LADIES GROUP: Falmer Ladies Group; again at the time of this column going to print I cannot report on John Burt’s presentation of a picture tour of Falmer and Stanmer 100 years ago which took place on Tuesday March 15. We often get asked by people outside Falmer ‘How has the football stadium effected your lives?’ We have learnt to live and work round the fixtures, but our Ladies Group meeting was changed from March 8 due to a home fixture, and in the last few days we were informed that a rescheduled match had been made for March 15, which was again the Ladies Group. Why is it of such a concern to our members, because getting into Falmer with the football traffic is horrendous. Hopefully the late start of our meeting will have allowed people to reach Falmer after the fans are already in the stadium and all those people outside Falmer who expressed an interest in John Burt’s tour will have been able to attend.
