Falmer

Apologies: for there being no report from Falmer last week, there was a technical issue!

There is plenty to tell you about this week: We had our Nativity play in the village last Sunday. We started in church and moved round the pond, telling the Christmas story, singing carols and finishing at the village hall where a manger was waiting to receive the baby. It was very enjoyable (if a little cold). Next up was a splendid carol service in the evening with beautiful music from the choir and some wonderful and thought provoking readings.

We are looking forward to this weekend: when we have a Christmas variety concert with the wonderful pianist Nicolae Vulpe, who will be joined by other international artists and the OHAV Choir. We were mesmerised by Nicolae’s piano playing when he performed for us a short while ago so we are really looking forward to this. The concert starts at 4pm and will last about two hours. There will be Christmas refreshments on offer to tempt you even more. Entry is free but we hope you will make a donation, the collection is in aid of Martlets Hospice.

Christyan James: will be taking our 10 am service this Sunday (23rd) and Revd. Jeffrey Lake will celebrate Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve at 11.30 pm. Earlier on Christmas Eve at 3pm we will have the delightful Christingle service. Everyone is very welcome to this event. The children will be told the Christmas story and there will be some carols. At the end of the short service the children will each be given a Christingle (an orange decorated with ribbon and such with little sweets).

A Very Happy Christmas: to you all.
