Jodie Brown, and her family sat down to an evening meal on Thursday, May 12, when their Tesco delivery arrived.

The mum-of-two went out to sign for her weekly shop and after scribbling her initials was told to wait as her delivery had come with a little extra.

She said: “I went out to get my Tesco delivery, it came as normal and I signed for it as normal.

“The driver went to the van because he said he had forgotten something and then ten people came round the corner and a man dressed as a pilot said, ‘You have won a holiday’.

“I was absolutely shocked.”

The prize was part of the Unexpected Holiday in Bagging Area competition being run jointly by Tesco and Walkers.

A spokesman for Tesco said Walkers had been surprising customers by giving out the free trips to people at checkouts who had brought packs of Spell & Go promotional crisps in its stores across the country. This also included six online deliveries.

The Brown family were the first to win the online competition.

Jodie said: “We never win anything and it was is just amazing. I am still in shock to be honest.

“They were hiding inside the van and then they hopped out the back and started singing. It was a total surprise.”

The family won a trip to Gran Canaria and they will be jetting off to the sunny island later this year.

She said: “They are all very excited. They are absolutely shocked and just can’t believe it.

“Our Tesco deliveries from now on will be disappointing,” she joked.

Jodie added Walkers recorded the family’s shock as they were given the news.
