When 14-year-old Charlie Muncey, of Littlehampton, received a call from The Teenage Cancer Trust, mistaking him for an adult fundraiser, he saw it as a sign to do his bit to support the worthy cause.

The Littlehampton Academy student, along with friends Will Hayler, 14, Regan Madron, 14, Luke Howell, 14, and Charlie’s twin sister Nadia, decided to tackle an eight-mile run from Worthing Pier to Littlehampton’s – raising about £500 for the trust.

Charlie, Nadia, their dad Kev and Will were the first to complete the run, with Regan and Luke successfully tackling the challenge a day later.

Charlie’s mum, Alison, said: “I’m so proud of them all.

“They completed it in a really quick time of about 69 minutes.”

She added: “When Charlie got the call, the charity thought he was one of their adults. I have no idea how that happened. But he was really happy to help out.

“He jokingly said after the run he wants to jog from pier to pier across the UK but I think this was tongue-in-cheek.”
