Father Christmas raises money for Lions

CHRISTMAS collections by members of the Adur East Lions Club have raised £1,500 for good causes.

Recently, members have collected at the Holmbush Centre and outside Somerfield, in Shoreham, and have toured the streets of Southwick with Father Christmas and his sleigh.

The money raised will be used to fund a Christmas dinner for elderly people, as well as a couple of coach outings in the summer.

Lion Val Roberts said: "Last year, we put on a dinner for 50 people and, this year, are working in conjunction with the Rotary Club and are expecting to be cooking for 100 older people.

"There will also be entertainment provided by our professional magician, David Croucher, who volunteers his services, and the Edwardians, who last year gave us a wonderful hour of music and fun.

"We would like to thank all the people who helped with collecting '“ the volunteer drivers, Eric Roberts, Brian Lee, and Robin Gosling, Coastline Harmony, who came along to give us some wonderful carols at Holmbush and everyone who contributed their hard earned cash to help the needy of Shoreham and Southwick."
