Felpham family hope their sweet venture will be a success

Owning their own business is a dream come true for a Felpham family.

The new owners of Felpham’s Chocolate Box, Paul and Heather Scanlan, hope their new venture will be a sweet success.

Along with their three children, the couple, who have lived in the village for some six years, have been busy putting their own stamp on the Felpham Road sweet shop and newsagents.

Mr Scanlan said: “We officially took the shop over on July 4, and since then we have been really busy. We have cleared a lot of stuff out and changed the decorations. We have also expanded our grocery and sweet selection.

“The whole community has been really supportive, and we would like to thank them.

“We really want the shop to provide what the community needs, so we have been asking customers what they would like us to sell and they have given us lots of ideas.

“The idea of selling fresh bread was really popular, and we have contacted bakeries in Selsey and Slindon to see if that’s possible. We have also been asked about stocking hardware items and we are looking into it too.”

Mr Scanlan, who has managed shops in London for some 20 years, said they were very grateful to the previous owners for all their help and support.
