Felpham play area work should soon finish

A FELPHAM play area which has been closed for more than five months should be open by Easter.

Developer David Wilson Homes has apologised for the lengthy delay to complete improvements to the Flansham Lane site.

The scheme was due to have been completed by the end of November. But the bad weather stopped progress being made.

A spokesman said: “Unfortunately, prolonged rain meant the ground was too wet to operate machinery on site.

“However, we are pleased work is now underway and we hope to have the play area open by the end of March.

“We look forward to the play area providing hours of fun for children for many years to come.”

The company’s funding of the improvements is part of its development of the site six housing nearby.

The news of the new-look play area was revealed by Arun District Council last October.

Pupils at Bishop Tufnell School in Felpham suggested equipment such as zip wires and climbing walls.

The council said it was in talks with David Wilson Homes about completing the work.

Felpham East district councillor John Holman said: “The play area will be a good community asset when it has finished, but the closure has gone on for a long time.

People are looking forward to it being open again.”
