Father Christmas took part in a procession through the town, joined by local children, before taking up residence in his grotto at Rye Museum. A live animal nativity took place at Church Square.

For the first time in years the town had a full light display with lights strung across the street. A big Christmas tree was lit up outside the George.

Rother Council added to the festive cheer by waiving charges in the town’s car parks.
